Teaching procedure
Step 1: Warming-Up and lead-in
1. The teacher and students greet each other.
2. Stand up, sing and act the song “Friend” together.
3. Show the pictures of two cartoon figures: Peter and Lily. Review the word“friend”, explain the meaning of “friends”, lead in the topic.
Step 2: Presentation and Practice
Words learning and practice
（1）Use Peter, Lily and Flashcards to teach “tall, short” “Peter is tall” and “Lily is short”. Students read them after the teacher.
Use “touch game” to practice and consolidate these two words. Students should touch the flashcards and read the words loudly.
（2）Act out the word “Strong”, ask one girl to show “thin”. Read the two words first, and then ask some students to follow suit. Correct the students’pronunciation, especially the pronunciation of “thin”.
Use “Voice game”: Read the word in a high voice and the students have to repeat it in a low voice. Divide the class into two groups and have a competition, if one member of a group makes a mistake, all the members have to read the words together three times as a punishment.
（3）Teacher sets a scene to explain the meaning of “quiet” “friendly”
（4）Show flashcards. Students read the words.
Use “Missing game”: practice all the words together.
Step 3 Consolidation
（1）The students work in pairs to act out the dialogue. Two pairs show the dialogue to the whole class.
（2）Students take out their pencil and paper, draw their best friends, and then work in groups to introduce their best friends to members in the group. Choose two representatives to introduce their best friends to the whole class.
Step 4: Summary and Homework
Summary: One student plays the role of a teacher to guide all the students to read the words and sentences together.
Homework:
1. Listen to the tape and read the dialogue in the text book.
2. Introduce one classmate to their parents
